Reading Time, February 2004, Vol 48 No 1, p. 34.
Koala wishes to see the world, so she asks all her friends where the world is. Each gives an answer that sees fine to them, but not for koala. Eventually koala decides to return to her own home. From her gum tree vantage she is able to see the sun over the horizon, then she realises that if she opens her eyes wide and even wider she can see the world. The delightful illustrations depicting all types of Australian animal habitats and environments are accurate and colourful. Drawn from various perspectives the reader can view natural Australian wildlife, great for introducing discussion on environmental issues and animal lifestyles. The simple text is easy to read, in blank verse, suitable for reading aloud or alone. The story is satisfying and interesting. Suitable for public and private school libraries.
